One-Dose wonder: could a single pill spare women from catheter after sling surgery?

NCT ID NCT05753670

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving women a single dose of tamsulosin (a safe, low-cost drug) before a common sling surgery could prevent the need for a temporary catheter afterward. About 25-30% of women currently need a catheter for a few days after this surgery, which many find to be the worst part of the experience. The trial involved 179 women and compared the single-dose approach to a placebo.
