Gel tested to make dental implants stronger, last longer

NCT ID NCT07194447

Summary

This study tested whether applying a special gel containing the medication simvastatin around a new dental implant could help it bond more strongly to the jawbone. Forty-two patients received a dental implant, with half getting the simvastatin gel and half getting a plain gel. Researchers measured how stable the implant was and checked bone levels around it over 16 weeks to see if the medicated gel improved healing.
