Cholesterol drug could save failing root canals

Summary
This study tests whether simvastatin, a common cholesterol drug, can be used as a root canal medication to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation in teeth where previous root canal treatment has failed. About 54 adults aged 20-40 with single-rooted teeth and small infections will receive simvastatin inside the tooth during retreatment. The goal is to see if it helps the infection heal better than standard treatments.
