Cholesterol drug tested as secret weapon against stubborn tooth infections

NCT ID NCT07256561

Summary

This study is testing if a common cholesterol medication, simvastatin, can help treat teeth where a previous root canal has failed. Researchers will place the medication directly inside the tooth's root canal to see if it can kill bacteria and reduce inflammation to help the bone around the tooth heal. The goal is to find a better way to save these teeth without needing surgery or extraction.
