New artificial neck disc tested as alternative to spinal fusion
NCT ID NCT03123549
Summary
This study tested whether a new two-level artificial neck disc (Simplify Disc) is as safe and effective as the standard spinal fusion surgery for treating severe neck and arm pain. It involved 182 adults with worn discs in two adjacent neck vertebrae who hadn't improved with other treatments. Researchers compared the two surgeries over two years, looking at pain relief, neck function, and complications.
