New disc implant tested as alternative to spinal fusion
NCT ID NCT02667067
Summary
This study tested a new artificial disc called the Simplify Disc to see if it was as safe and effective as the standard spinal fusion surgery for treating severe neck and arm pain from a single worn disc. It involved 150 adults whose pain did not improve with other treatments like physical therapy. The main goal was to see if the new disc could provide similar pain relief and improved neck function over two years without needing additional surgeries.
