Could a simple Anti-Gas drug make colonoscopies more effective?
NCT ID NCT07674160
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study investigates whether adding simethicone, an anti-foaming agent, to standard bowel preparation improves colon cleanliness during water-exchange colonoscopy. About 180 adults undergoing screening or diagnostic colonoscopy will be randomly assigned to receive either simethicone plus polyethylene glycol (PEG) or PEG alone. The goal is to see if simethicone reduces bubbles and improves visibility, potentially leading to better detection of polyps and adenomas.
