Silver-Lined tube aims to seal leaky lungs in cancer patients
NCT ID NCT02649894
Summary
This study tested whether a new catheter coated with silver nitrate was better than a standard catheter at managing recurrent, symptom-causing fluid buildup around the lungs (malignant pleural effusion) in cancer patients. The main goal was to see if the new catheter could help the lung permanently stick to the chest wall to prevent fluid from returning, without needing further procedures. The trial involved 119 adult participants who had this condition and compared the outcomes between the two catheter types.
