Could a milk thistle extract boost leukemia treatment?

NCT ID NCT07561892

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding silibinin (a natural compound from milk thistle, often used for liver health) to standard chemotherapy can improve outcomes for adults newly diagnosed with a common type of acute myeloid leukemia (AML, non-M3). About 100 participants will receive either standard chemo alone or chemo plus silibinin. The goal is to see if the combination leads to higher remission rates and longer survival, while also being safe.
