New blood marker may spot kidney danger in liver patients
NCT ID NCT07452484
First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether repeated measurements of a blood marker called the Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII) can help diagnose and predict acute kidney injury (AKI) in people with liver cirrhosis. AKI is a common and serious complication in cirrhosis, but current tests are often unreliable. The study will follow 100 hospitalized adults with cirrhosis, comparing SII levels between those who develop AKI and those who do not, to see if this simple test can catch kidney problems earlier and guide treatment.
