New poke could prevent painful gut twists

NCT ID NCT07155304

Summary

This study tested a less invasive 'percutaneous fixation' procedure against standard surgery for people with recurrent sigmoid volvulus, a painful condition where the colon twists. It involved 66 patients at high risk for surgery, aged 16-80. The main goal was to see which method was better at preventing the condition from coming back over a 3-month period.
