First human test of new sickle cell pill begins

Summary
This is an early safety study to see if a pill called fostamatinib is safe and tolerable for adults with stable sickle cell disease. Up to 25 participants will take the drug at home for 6 weeks, with visits every 2 weeks to check for side effects. The main goal is to find a safe dose and understand how the drug works in the body, not to treat symptoms directly.
