New hope for toddlers with sickle cell: liquid medicine study aims to prevent painful crises

Summary

This study is checking the safety and real-world effectiveness of a liquid medicine called Xromi for very young children with sickle cell disease. It will follow about 180 children under 2 years old for two years, comparing those taking the medicine to similar children who are not. The main goal is to see if the medicine helps prevent painful complications and to monitor for any side effects.
