New drug trial aims to tame sickle Cell's painful crises

Summary

This study is testing whether an investigational drug called rilzabrutinib can reduce the frequency of painful episodes (vaso-occlusive crises) in people with sickle cell disease. It will involve about 192 participants aged 10 to 65 who have experienced between 2 and 10 painful crises in the past year. For one year, participants will receive either the study drug or a placebo to compare their outcomes.
