Could a simple blood test replace risky food challenges for kids with shrimp allergies?

NCT ID NCT07501325

Summary

This study aims to see if new blood tests that measure antibodies to specific shrimp proteins can accurately diagnose shrimp allergies in children. Researchers will compare the results of these blood tests to the current 'gold standard' test, which involves feeding children small amounts of shrimp in a controlled setting. The goal is to find a safer, easier way to diagnose shrimp allergies without putting children through the risk and stress of a food challenge.
