New hope for Hard-to-Treat lung cancer: targeted drug combo enters human trials

NCT ID NCT05482568

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests two new drug combinations for people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer that has a HER2 mutation. The drugs are SHR-A1811 (given by IV) combined with either pyrotinib (a pill) or SHR-1316 (another IV drug). The trial has two parts: first, finding the safest dose, and second, seeing how well the combination works. About 324 participants are being recruited at multiple centers.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
SHR-A1811 (a targeted drug) combined with either pyrotinib (oral) or SHR-1316 (intravenous)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new treatment option for people with advanced HER2-positive lung cancer, potentially shrinking tumors and extending life.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1/2) with a small number of participants, so the benefits and risks are not yet proven. Side effects from the drug combinations are possible and will be closely monitored.
