First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-stage trial tests an experimental drug called SHR-1316, given as a shot under the skin, together with standard chemotherapy (carboplatin and etoposide) in people with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer who have not had prior treatment. The study looks at how the drug moves through the body, its safety, and whether it helps shrink tumors. About 24 participants will take part to gather initial information on dosing and effects.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SHR-1316 (an experimental immunotherapy) combined with carboplatin and etoposide (chemotherapy)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a new first-line treatment option for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer, potentially improving tumor control and survival.

What could go wrong

This is an early Phase 1 trial with only 24 participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet established. The combination may cause significant side effects, and results may not apply to all patients.
