First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at whether showering with a special antiseptic soap (4% chlorhexidine gluconate) before lumbar disc herniation surgery can help prevent surgical site infections. About 86 adults having back surgery will be randomly assigned to shower a different number of times before their operation. Researchers will then monitor them for 30 days to see if any develop an infection at the surgical site.
