New shot aims to stop agony after shoulder surgery

NCT ID NCT07196631

Summary

This study is testing two different numbing medicines given as a nerve block to control pain after shoulder surgery. It aims to see if a newer, longer-lasting medicine (liposomal bupivacaine) is better than a standard one (ropivacaine) at preventing severe 'rebound pain' that often hits patients when the initial block wears off. The trial involves 100 adults having arthroscopic shoulder surgery and will measure pain levels and medication use for 72 hours.
