New pain block may keep shoulder surgery patients breathing easier

Summary
This study tests two numbing medicines for shoulder surgery to find which one controls pain better while keeping the diaphragm (the main breathing muscle) working normally. About 184 adults having shoulder surgery will get one of the two drugs as a nerve block. The goal is to reduce pain without causing temporary breathing problems.
