New pain block for shoulder surgery may protect breathing
NCT ID NCT07369271
First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to manage pain after shoulder surgery: a standard nerve block and a newer spine-area block. The goal is to see if the newer method provides equal pain relief while reducing the risk of temporary diaphragm paralysis that can affect breathing. About 165 adults having shoulder arthroscopy will take part, and their pain and muscle strength will be measured for 24 hours after surgery.
