Shoulder surgery breakthrough? new nerve block may prevent breathing problems

NCT ID NCT06703281

Summary

This study compared two different nerve block techniques used to numb the shoulder for arthroscopic surgery. Researchers wanted to see which method was less likely to cause temporary paralysis of the diaphragm muscle, which is important for breathing. They measured breathing function and diaphragm movement in 123 patients to determine if a newer technique (superior trunk block) is safer than the standard one (interscalene block).
