Shoulder surgery showdown: does component placement affect arm movement?

NCT ID NCT05297305

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at two different surgical techniques for reverse total shoulder replacement: placing the humeral component on top of the bone versus inside the bone. Researchers wanted to see if one method led to better arm movement or function after surgery. The study enrolled 19 people with shoulder arthritis or rotator cuff injuries, but it was terminated early, so results are limited.
