Hand injury? your shoulder might be hurt too, says new study
NCT ID NCT06838247
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study uses ultrasound to see if people with hand injuries also have shoulder problems that might be missed. Researchers will examine 60 adults with hand injuries to check for issues like tendon tears or bursitis. The goal is to find out whether shoulder exams should be part of hand rehab to improve recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
diagnostic ultrasonography
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that shoulder exams should be part of hand injury rehab, leading to better recovery plans.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It only looks for shoulder issues, not whether treating them improves outcomes.
