Shorter TB prevention: 6-Week daily pill could replace months of treatment

NCT ID NCT03474029

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026

Summary

This study compares a new 6-week daily rifapentine regimen to standard 12-16 week treatments for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in people at high risk of developing active TB. About 3,400 participants will be randomly assigned to either the short or longer treatment and followed for 24 months. The goal is to see if the shorter option is as safe and effective at preventing active TB disease.
