First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a 24-hour infusion of octreotide works as well as a 72-hour infusion to prevent early rebleeding in people with cirrhosis who had bleeding esophageal varices treated with endoscopic banding. The trial enrolled 34 adults with known or suspected cirrhosis and active variceal bleeding. The goal was to see if a shorter treatment could be safer and just as effective.
