Short implants hold their own in toothless jaw study
NCT ID NCT02877433
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether using 4 mm short implants at the back of the jaw works as well as standard-length implants for supporting a full set of fixed replacement teeth. Fifty-three adults with no teeth in their lower jaw received either two short plus two standard implants or four short plus two standard implants. The main goal was to see how many implants stayed in place over time.
