Short hip stems pass the settling test in patients with unusually shaped thigh bones

NCT ID NCT06768541

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at how much a short hip replacement stem settles (subsides) in people with a specific thigh bone shape called DORR Type C, which has thinner bone and a wider canal. Researchers measured stem movement and tracked pain, function, and quality of life in 108 patients who had already received the Optimys short stem. The goal was to see if this stem design provides stable fixation and good outcomes for this bone type.
