New combo therapy aims to shrink rectal tumors before surgery

Summary

This study tests whether adding a drug called enlonstobart to short-course radiotherapy before surgery can improve outcomes for people with a specific type of advanced rectal cancer (pMMR). About 128 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard treatment or the new combination. The main goal is to see if the cancer disappears completely or nearly completely before surgery.
