Scientists test gut chemicals on healthy volunteers
NCT ID NCT07183488
Summary
This study aims to understand how two specific compounds produced by gut bacteria affect the body's metabolism in healthy people. Ten healthy adults will take single doses of either butyrate or propionate on separate days while researchers measure changes in blood chemicals, energy use, and blood vessel function. The main goal is to see if butyrate increases ketone levels in the blood more than propionate does.
