First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether carrying heavy shopping bags twice a week can help adults who don't do enough strength training improve their muscle mass, strength, and endurance. 45 adults who were not meeting exercise guidelines either carried shopping bags for 15 minutes twice a week or kept their normal routine. Researchers measured back strength, jump height, power, endurance, grip strength, and body composition to see if the shopping bag routine made a difference.
