Shockwaves show promise for stiff, painful necks in young adults
NCT ID NCT07266272
Summary
This study tested whether adding a treatment called extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) to standard physical therapy exercises could help young adults with long-term neck pain. Fifty-two participants aged 18-29 with neck pain for over 3 months were split into two groups: one did physical therapy alone, and the other did physical therapy plus ESWT. The results suggest that adding shockwave therapy may help improve pain tolerance and neck movement in certain directions compared to exercise alone.
