Shock waves may ease lower cross syndrome pain
NCT ID NCT06531746
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This completed study tested whether extracorporeal shock wave therapy could reduce pain and improve muscle activity in 40 adults with Lower Cross Syndrome, a condition of muscle imbalance. Participants received either real shock waves, a standard physical therapy program, or a sham treatment. The main goals were to measure pain levels and electrical activity in the lower back muscles.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
extracorporeal shock wave therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-drug option to ease pain and improve muscle function in people with Lower Cross Syndrome.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The sham group received no real treatment, which limits comparison.
