Shock waves vs. exercise for knee pain: study finds similar relief
NCT ID NCT07273110
Summary
This study tested whether adding shock wave therapy to standard exercises helps adults with chronic knee pain from patellofemoral syndrome. Thirty-six participants did exercises alone, exercises plus shock waves, or shock waves alone for four weeks. All three groups showed similar improvements in pain and knee function after eight weeks, suggesting shock waves didn't provide extra benefit beyond exercise in this small trial.
