Shock waves fail to boost knee pain relief over exercise alone

NCT ID NCT07273110

First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding shock wave therapy to exercise helps knee pain more than exercise alone. 36 adults with patellofemoral pain syndrome were split into three groups: exercise only, shock waves only, or both. After 8 weeks, all groups felt better, but adding shock waves did not provide extra benefit. The treatment was safe and well tolerated.
