Shock wave therapy tested for stubborn frozen shoulder pain

NCT ID NCT06490172

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study explores whether a non-invasive treatment called extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) can reduce pain and improve shoulder movement in people with chronic adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) who haven't gotten better with standard physiotherapy. Researchers will first gather expert opinions to design the best treatment plan, then test it in a small pilot study with 18 adults. The goal is to see if a larger trial is feasible and to measure any improvements in pain, function, and quality of life.
