Could an extra shot shield transplant patients from shingles?

NCT ID NCT07443709

First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether an extra (booster) dose of the shingles vaccine can strengthen the immune response in people who have had a solid-organ transplant (like kidney or liver) and already received the standard two doses. About 75 participants will be randomly assigned to get the booster or not, and their antibody levels will be tracked for a year. The goal is to see if the booster helps prevent shingles, which is more common and severe in transplant patients due to their long-term anti-rejection medications.
