First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated Apr 21, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a new vaccine called Shigella4V2 can protect healthy adults from getting sick with shigellosis, a type of severe diarrhea. About 120 volunteers will receive either the vaccine or a placebo (dummy shot) and then be intentionally exposed to the bacteria that causes the illness to see if the vaccine works. The goal is to see if the vaccine prevents infection or reduces the severity of symptoms compared to the placebo.
