Can a common antibiotic stop diarrhea and boost growth in sick kids?

NCT ID NCT07433426

Summary

This study aims to find out if giving the antibiotic azithromycin to young children with Shigella-related watery diarrhea helps them get better faster and improves their growth. The study will compare children who receive the antibiotic to those who receive a placebo (a dummy pill). Researchers will follow 700 children in Bangladesh and Zambia for three months to see which group recovers quicker and gains more weight.
