New ultrasound method may prevent unnecessary surgery in pregnant women
NCT ID NCT07547891
First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special ultrasound technique, shear wave elastography, can safely and accurately tell the difference between normal kidney swelling during pregnancy and swelling caused by a blockage that needs treatment. Researchers will measure kidney stiffness in 250 pregnant women with kidney swelling. If successful, this painless, radiation-free test could help doctors make better decisions and avoid unnecessary procedures.
