CT scan sex gap: new dosing method aims for equal contrast
NCT ID NCT06965790
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to calculate contrast dye for CT scans. Women often get higher contrast than men with standard weight-based dosing, possibly due to differences in blood volume. Researchers will compare the usual method with a new one based on individual blood volume in 400 adults. The goal is to see if this makes scan images more equal between sexes.
