Post-Lockdown surge: study links end of COVID rules to rise in severe childhood strep

NCT ID NCT06297122

Summary

This study looked back at medical records to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic and its safety rules, like masks and school closures, affected severe strep infections in children. Researchers analyzed data from 269 children hospitalized in Paris between 2018 and 2023. The goal was to see if infection rates changed during lockdowns and after the rules were lifted, to help prepare for future outbreaks.
