New hope for treating deadly malaria in children far from hospitals

NCT ID NCT06806956

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple rectal treatment for severe malaria works as well as an injection when children cannot be rushed to a hospital. It involves over 2,000 young children in remote areas of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The goal is to find a safe and effective way for community health workers to treat this life-threatening disease immediately, saving lives where advanced care is not available.
