New drug protocol tested for rare bone marrow disease
NCT ID NCT02203396
Summary
This study tested a specific combination of three drugs to treat severe aplastic anemia, a rare condition where the bone marrow stops making enough blood cells. The treatment was given to 40 newly diagnosed patients who were not candidates for a bone marrow transplant. Researchers aimed to see if this optimized 9-day drug protocol was safe and effective at helping patients' blood counts recover.
