Doctors test which blood marker better predicts sepsis survival

NCT ID NCT07289906

Summary

This study aims to find out if tracking changes in a protein called albumin in the blood is as good as, or better than, tracking lactic acid levels for predicting whether a sepsis patient in the intensive care unit will recover or not. Researchers will monitor 40 adult patients with sepsis who are admitted to the ICU for non-surgical reasons. They will compare daily blood test results to see which measurement more accurately forecasts a patient's outcome.
