Muscle sensor tested for fatigue detection in teens

NCT ID NCT07161531

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study checks if a surface electromyography (sEMG) device can consistently measure muscle fatigue in healthy adolescents. Twenty-seven teens will do repeated squats until exhaustion while their leg muscle activity is recorded, repeating the test a week later. The goal is to see if the sensor readings are reliable and match how tired the teens feel.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Surface electromyography (sEMG) monitoring

What this could lead to

If reliable, sEMG could become a standard tool to objectively measure muscle fatigue in adolescents, aiding diagnosis and treatment planning.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage reliability study in healthy teens only. It does not test any treatment, and results may not apply to other groups or real-world settings.
