Gene clues could personalize myeloma treatment

NCT ID NCT07514052

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether certain gene activity patterns can predict how well the drug selinexor works in people with multiple myeloma that has come back or stopped responding to treatment. Researchers will give 127 participants a weekly selinexor combination and track their response using bone marrow tests and blood work. The goal is to move toward more personalized treatment for this hard-to-treat cancer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Selinexor (a drug taken orally once a week, combined with other standard drugs)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors personalize treatment for multiple myeloma by using gene tests to predict who will benefit most from selinexor-based therapy.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study focused on finding predictive biomarkers, not proving a cure. The sample size is modest, and the results may not apply to all patients. Selinexor can cause side effects like nausea and fatigue.
