Summary

This pilot study tests a simple idea: giving parents of young African American children (ages 2-4) self-esteem-themed books and advice during regular doctor visits. The goal is to see if this helps parents encourage positive self-concept and improves children's behavior and early reading skills. About 134 children will take part, and researchers will check if the program is practical and liked by families.
