Could a simple Self-Swab replace the pelvic exam for cervical cancer screening?

NCT ID NCT06611553

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study compares the accuracy of HPV testing on self-collected vaginal samples versus samples collected by a doctor during a pelvic exam. About 500 people referred for colposcopy or cervical procedures will provide both types of samples. The goal is to see if self-collection is a reliable alternative to increase screening access and prevent cervical cancer.
