New sedation drug tested for smoother, less painful lung scopes

NCT ID NCT07184801

Summary

This study is testing which of two sedation drugs works better for patients having a medical thoracoscopy, a procedure to examine the lung lining. Researchers want to see if a drug called dexmedetomidine leads to less pain during the procedure, requires fewer extra painkillers, and allows for a faster recovery compared to the standard drug, midazolam. The trial will involve 56 adults with unexplained fluid around the lungs.
